Biyolojik Mücadele
Biological control is simply using natural enemies to control the pest and diseases in agriculture. The natural enemies used for biological control classified under 3 groups.
They are predators (predatory insects, directly prey on their hosts) , parasitoids (wasps lay their eggs on or inside of the host) and micro organisims (bacteria, viruses, fungus, nematods). The most common biological control method using in agriculture is to use predators to suppress the pest population under the economic damage threshold levels.
Biological control is one of the main control measure among the Integrated Pest Management stagtegies. Consequently cultural control, mechanical control or even chemical control could be use in the harmony by choosing the spesific application not to harm on biological control. Particularly while chemical control is going to be use the type of pesticide, application dosage and application time should be determined under the consideration of both target pest biology and biological control application.
Biological control and organic farming are not the same applications. Biological control is one of the main pest control method in organic farming must be include in the organic farming system. Biological control have a special importance in organic farming where classical chemical control methods could not be used.
